// The Challenge
Maritime compliance documentation is not one task.
It is a continuous lifecycle.
Under HKC and EU SRR, vessels of 500 GT and above flying the flag of a party state or calling at EU ports are required to carry a certified and maintained Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM). IHM-relevant material purchases require Material Declarations and SDoCs provided by the respective suppliers.
Most operators manage this across emails, spreadsheets and shared folders — a fragmented, manual process that fails precisely when it matters most: the survey, the PSC inspection, the sale. ComplyEdge brings the entire lifecycle onto one controlled platform.
// The Three Stages
One platform covers the full compliance documentation lifecycle.
01 //
IHM Development
Build phase — newbuild or first IHM
Building the Inventory of Hazardous Materials from scratch — for newbuild vessels, vessels changing flag or entering class for the first time. ComplyEdge automates MD and SDoC collection across all equipment suppliers, with expert assembly and class certification by GSR Services. A vessel cannot trade without it.
IHM Development
02 //
IHM Maintenance
Operational phase — throughout vessel life
Keeping the IHM current as the vessel evolves — every purchase of relevant equipment triggers a documentation obligation. ComplyEdge automates supplier requests, expert review and IHM updates, and generates a certified, survey-ready report with one click. Since HKC entered into force, this is a continuous legal obligation.

03 //
MD/SDoC Management
Supply chain phase — across all suppliers
Managing Material Declarations and Supplier Declarations of Conformity across the supply chain — for both the shipowner requesting documentation and the supplier providing it. ComplyEdge’s zero-friction supplier portal means documents arrive in minutes, not weeks. Sub-supplier cascade supported. Expert review included.
MD/SDoC Management
// Why It Matters
The cost of uncontrolled compliance documentation.
When compliance documentation is managed manually — across emails, Excel and shared folders — gaps appear at the worst possible moments. The consequences are measurable and severe.
Failed Class Survey
An IHM that is missing, incomplete or not accepted by the classification society means survey failure. No class certificate renewal — the vessel cannot trade. Remediation from scratch takes 3–6 months.
PSC Detention
Paris MOU has included IHM in port state control inspection checklists since 2024. Deficiency notices are active at Dutch, German, Belgian and French ports. Detention costs USD 15,000–50,000 per day.
Blocked Vessel Sale
A certified, current IHM is now standard due diligence in every S&P transaction. A missing or non-compliant IHM blocks the sale or triggers a price discount of EUR 15,000–40,000 per vessel.
Blocked Purchase Orders
Suppliers who cannot deliver MD and SDoC documentation on time face blocked purchase orders, contract penalties and removal from approved vendor lists. The financial impact compounds rapidly across a fleet.
// The Platform

// Who It’s For
Every stakeholder in the maritime compliance chain — covered.
[01]
Shipowner / Fleet Manager
Responsible for maintaining a certified, current IHM across the entire fleet. Every relevant purchase triggers a documentation obligation. ComplyEdge automates the full cycle — from supplier request to survey-ready report — without a single manual email.
“I used to spend two days a week chasing MD and SDoC documents. Now the system does it — I only look at the dashboard.”
[02]
Equipment Supplier / Manufacturer
Required to provide Material Declarations and SDoCs to customers on request. ComplyEdge’s zero-friction supplier portal means responding to any customer request takes under 5 minutes — no account creation, no software to install. One upload covers all customers and all orders.
“We get requests from 20 different customers. ComplyEdge gave us one place to manage all of them — one upload, all covered.”
[03]
Shipyard / Newbuild Project
Responsible for delivering a certified IHM Part I at vessel handover. Hundreds of equipment suppliers, multiple packages, a fixed delivery date. ComplyEdge automates the entire collection process in parallel with construction — the IHM is ready when the vessel is.
“We had 340 suppliers across 18 equipment packages. ComplyEdge had a certified IHM ready two weeks before delivery.”
